The ecotonal region of our Nahuel Huapi National Park, with its rich variety of flora and fauna, is under increasing pressure by the presence of man. The population growth and the pleasure of living in contact with nature leads us to invade new ventures entering natural areas, plants and animals, and interponiéndonos modifying the environment in its natural biological cycles. This creates potential health veterinary supplies risks and forestry in the areas of contact. Bloom colihue cane (Chusquea culeou) natural phenomenon in this subfamily of reeds and bamboo every few decades (1) occurs, did not occur in our area from about 70 years ago. It generates substantial changes in forest structure, resulting beneficial for some species and detrimental to others. When flowering, produces a spike, whose fruits contain veterinary supplies a seed the size of a grain of rice (2) is offered as an unusual abundance of food for wild animals such as rodents, who increase their population in exceptional circumstances, in the same way their natural predators (hawks, owls, owls, foxes, wild cats, ferrets) collaborators in control mice and other small animals.
A small percentage of wild mice "colilargos 5-10% (3) can carry the Hanta-Andes (4,5) virus, so it is useful to distinguish these (Oligorizomis longicaudatus), with a long tail (double of the body) of our "house mouse", Mus musculus, who is not involved veterinary supplies in the spread of this disease (6). With the possibility of migration of these, in late summer or fall, near some populated areas, it is important that the community not be alarmed by this natural phenomenon but report taking hygiene and prevention, to prevent access by rodents households (7). The part of the forest beneath the main tree, consisting of shrubs, young trees and herbs, then flowering of the cane, which at death makes it more accessible while amending the conditions of light and humidity will change. This allows the colonization of new animals (with the risk of introducing exotic) leaves others without shelter (pudu pudu, mountain monkey, chucao) and promotes the growth veterinary supplies of new plants. The changes involve one of the biggest risks to humans, because the cane dried dying, decaying remains many years, which increased the risk in future warm periods, forest fires (8). How can it affect our pets?
It has not been proven that pets from catching rodents (9). International disease control agencies veterinary supplies now agree indicate that this is a disease of wild rodents and there are no reported cases of pets like dogs or cats carriers of Hantavirus, or which have transmitted the disease veterinary supplies to humans (10,11) . No records veterinary supplies that rodents kept as pets (hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils) (12) and natural predators (eagles, hawks, foxes, owls, owls, etc) are carriers or have forwarded this to the human condition (13).
Because voles are "accidental" hosts of Leptospirosis and rats, the primary reservoir of the disease (14) can invade the forest in times of overproduction of seeds for food and reproduction (15) advise in my office who the most exposed (not vaccinated or unvaccinated young mothers, veterinary supplies as well as foreign) living in areas with standing water or may have contact with wild animals, canines tuned vaccination against this disease and their reinforcements.
While pets do not transmit disease, they can, by their habits and instincts of cats hunting dogs catch small prey, introducing infected rodents at home, so we try to avoid it and if it occurs, proceed in the same than with those found dead. How should we handle veterinary supplies safely rodents?
Do not handle traps with live rodents. Never do it with a headwind, always with the wind on our backs or sides. Spraying them with water with 10% bleach (1 part bleach water 9) Using rubber gloves, rubber or as a glove bag. Eliminate rodents wells over 50 cm and cover them with soil. After removing gloves should wash their hands (16)
What other steps should we take? The best way to prevent contact with these viruses is to prevent rodents from entering our homes, drinking and dishwashing controlled water sources, keep our food and pet in sealed containers, do not leave food troughs, avoid Basu accumulation
